Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This page sets out how Maharashtra.Today chooses, checks and publishes its articles.

1. Independence

Our coverage is not paid for or directed by advertisers, political parties, government bodies or other interests. Stories are chosen for their news value and their use to residents.

2. Accuracy and verification

We publish a story only when its core facts are confirmed by at least two independent, reputable sources. Where an official document exists (a government resolution, notification, court order or civic circular) we use and link it. We keep confirmed facts apart from claims, and attribute claims to whoever made them. We do not publish rumours or speculation as fact.

3. Original writing and credit

Every article is written in our own words and adds context or practical information for readers. We link the reports and documents we use and list them at the end of the article. We do not reproduce another outlet’s reporting as our own.

4. Use of AI

Our articles are researched and written with the help of AI tools, working from news reports, official notices and public records. A story is published only when its core facts are confirmed by at least two independent, reputable sources, which are linked in the article and listed at the end. Our process checks every draft against those sources before publication, including a check that the wording is our own and not copied. Articles are not individually reviewed by a human editor before they go live, and every article ends with a note saying it was written with AI assistance.

5. Fairness

Where a story involves criticism or allegations, we report the response of the person or body concerned when it has been published, and say so when it has not.

6. Sensitive subjects

We report on crime, accidents and tragedy with restraint. We do not identify victims of sexual offences or minors, and we follow established guidance on reporting suicide.

7. Corrections and complaints

If we get something wrong we correct it on the article with a dated note. See our Corrections Policy, or email contact@maharashtra.today.
